This sculpture is near the water, along the Waaigat waterfront, in Curacao. The Monument to the Fallen in Punda, on the eastside of Willemstad, is located on De Ruyterkade. It memorializes the local servicemen and citizens who were killed during World War II.The bronze female is highlighted by two blades which soar 36 feet into the sky. The “Monument to the Fallen” was created in 1957 by artist Federico Carasso. The circular base has a plaque, naming of those who died from 1940-1945.
Welcome and thank you for your interest in my photographs. I try to capture the essence of every subject as it actually exists. I rarely alter a picture and minimally, if at all, use post processing. What the observer sees is how it really existed. Most work is accomplished with attention to detail and in-camera composition and framing, rather than post production manipulation (such as Photoshop). I am basically self-taught and entitle my body of work "World Reflections" because I want to reflect the beauty of nature and the wonders that exist in the world.
